PEORIA, Ill.—A major revenue source for the South Side Mission has re-opened.
Shoppers and supporters celebrated the expansion of the Mission Mart on Sterling Avenue.
The bigger store means more room for furniture and household items to be sold.
That means more revenue for the Mission.
Officials say community support is what makes the Mission Mart stores so successful.
"The South Side Mission has a 4 million dollar budget in 2014 and none of that comes from the government it all comes from folks like you and me, giving a check here and there and shopping for a bargain here at one of our thrift stores,” said Phil Newton, Executive Director of The South Side Mission.
Last year the 3 area Mission Mart stores brought in more than 750,000 dollars for the South Side Mission.
