PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man accused of shooting another man during a drug deal gone bad last year told the jury that he was acting in self defense.

Dieuseul Brown, 26, took the stand Wednesday and said that an altercation between him and Kelsey Coleman occurred at Coleman's home at 1612 S. Arago St. last April.

Brown said that Coleman did not give him the heroin he paid for. When Brown asked for his money back, Coleman attacked. Brown said he thought his life was in danger and shot Coleman once in the back.

Prosecutors tell a different story. They allege that Brown broke into Coleman's home, demanding money.

The case is expected to be turned over the jury on Wednesday afternoon.
