EAST PEORIA, Ill -- Target is moving one step closer to opening its doors in East Peoria.
The store's addition to the Levee District is part of the exciting economic growth in East Peoria which includes Bass Pro and the new Costco.
East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus says he is looking towards a bright future.
"Well, the future plans are continuing to grow, catch up, as you can see. There's over $100 million of construction being erected as we speak. And to get that on board and running, I think, is really important," Mingus said.
The new store will have a Starbucks, Pharmacy and feature 'grab n go' groceries.
The grand opening is scheduled for March 10.
While construction still continues, Target is ready to move forward with hiring.
The store's management team has been in place since December but Store Team Leader, Jess Hastings, says they plan to hire the remainder of the staff through a job fair that starts Thursday.
