NORMAL, Ill -- The Town of Normal gave the go-ahead for new business development.

Wirtz Beverage Illinois is looking to build a new distribution Center on Route 9 in Bloomington and, because it would be located in an enterprise zone, the city of Bloomington, Town of Normal and McLean County all have to give approval.

Monday night, the Normal Town Council unanimously approved a five year property tax freeze that the business is asking for to assist with the cost of building the new facility. Bloomington has already approved the measure.

Normal Mayor Chris Koos said this is a fairly large distribution Center and believes it will be a great asset to the community.

"By everyone's estimation, first go-round 120 new jobs paying above the median wage rate in the community. They bought enough land that they can also expand on that and I think that's their intention long term," said Mayor Koos.

McLean County still needs to give the final approval for the project to move forward.
