NORMAL, Ill. -- Normal police arrested a Normal woman for filing a false police report on Thursday.

Kristin Colton, 23, of Normal, was arrested after telling police that she was stopped by a male impersonating a police officer on Monday.

Colton told authorities that the subject was driving a vehicle that had emergency lights.

Investigation into the report determined that the allegations were false and the traffic stop never happened.

The Normal Police Department says that they consider an allegation such as this a top priority. They said if they believed that Colton's story was true, they would have notified the public.

Colton is currently being held at the McLean County Jail.
