PEKIN, Ill. -- The City of Pekin is warning residents now to prepare for a possible city wide parking ban this weekend.

Pekin Police said there is an automatic parking ban for snow routes when there is 2 inches or more of snow on the ground. This ban is in effect for 48 hours.

A city wide parking ban can be declared by the City Manager when there is 4 or more inches of snowfall projected. When this happens, vehicles are to be cleared from ALL city streets. When this ban is active, it will remain active until announced.

Any vehicles that remain on city streets are subject to a ticket, and/or tow.
