PEORIA, Ill.-- A 29-year-old Peoria man has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm for the New Year's Eve shooting of Marcus Hayward of Peoria.
Hayward was shot in the chest in the 1000 block of E. Virginia.
Julius Mudd was ordered held on $500,000 bond Wednesday afternoon.
Prosecutor Dave Kenny said attempted murder charges could be brought against Mudd at a later date. Just over a month ago, Mudd was acquitted of felony weapons possession charges in Peoria County.
Mudd was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
