PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Police have released surveillance video in hopes of identifying a suspect in the city's latest homicide.

A vigil for the victim, Eric D. Brown Jr., 21, of Peoria, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of West Kettelle, where the shooting took place on Monday.

Authorities say Brown was sitting with a group on the porch of a house when an unidentified black male opened fire on the group. Brown died a short time later at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says a bullet passed through Brown's arm and entered his chest, fatally wounding him.

Police believe a suspect is seen in surveillance video fleeing the scene on a bike. He was dressed in a dark shirt and white shorts.

"We are hoping that someone who is familiar with the area, may live in the neighborhood, would see something that possibly sparks something, something that they are familiar with, or somebody,” said Peoria Police Captain Mike Eddlemon. “When you're familiar with somebody you might recognize their walk or their gait, maybe something they are wearing, or saw them earlier."

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to Peoria Police or Crimestoppers at (309) 673-9000.
