PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis calls it the city's 'best kept secret', Running Central is returning to Peoria, and moving into the Warehouse District.

Running Central President Adam White said the store will be taking over the first floor of the former Illinois Antique Center at 311 SW Water Street.

The new location will include a 10,000 square foot showroom and an RC Kids Zone specifically for footwear.

White said the new location puts Running Central at the heart of the Peoria Riverfront and all of its events.

"Cause it's not just the races, it's the fourth of July, it's Octoberfest, it's Erin Feis, it's the Soul Fest. It is everything that happens from State street up to the Riverplex, and in between, that we have the opportunity to engage and be apart of and you better believe we are going to be," White said.

Running Central is currently located on Prospect Road in Peoria Heights.

That location is expected to close in April 2014 when work on the new store is completed.

White said the company will hire five new full-time employees before the move to downtown Peoria.
