Peoria attorney died of heart attack while driving

PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria attorney has died after suffering a heart attack behind the wheel.

Dean Rhoads, 64, of 100 W. Ravinswood Road was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Rhoads was driving north on North Knoxville Avenue around 5 p.m. when his car left the roadway, hit a fire hydrant and crashed through the Kindred OB-GYN office sign at 2806 N. Knoxville.

Rescue workers found Rhoads unresponsive behind the wheel with no visible signs of injury.
