PEORIA, Ill. – An 11-year-old Peoria boy was pronounced dead Thursday morning but not before giving a gift that will save the lives of five others.

Trever Chick was declared brain dead Monday night after he ran into the street and was hit by a pickup truck on his way to school Monday morning.

Through their grief, Trever’s parents decided to donate his organs to help others. The donation includes the boy’s two kidneys, lungs, heart and liver. Three of the organs will go to patients in Illinois.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

Trever was a 5th grade student at Lincoln School in Peoria.
