Peoria man arrested for armed robbery of local businesses

PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man has been arrested in connection to four armed robberies of local businesses.

Marcey Jones, 21, was arrested after he allegedly tried to rob Johnson's Mini Mart, 907 W. Johnson St., Thursday afternoon.

The owner of the business said that a male armed with a handgun tried to access the business, but he locked the door before the suspect could gain entry.

Jones has also been connected to a pair of robberies that occured last August at Tony's Market, 2621 NE Adams and Bling Bling Beauty Supply, 616 Western, as well as a December armed robbery at Fifth Avenue Fashions, 841 W. Main St.

Jones is being held at Peoria County Jail.
