PEORIA, Ill. -- Now that Peoria has been named an All-America City, the question is what's next?

The Young Professionals Organization, the group responsible for obtaining the award, presented the city's new road sign to Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis on Wednesday.

The group also thanked the community for its support. They say the next step is to take advantage of the award.

"You've seen other communities that have leveraged All-America City recognition into economic development opportunities, marketing opportunities, to attract new businesses and new people to their community,” said Peoria City Councilman Ryan Spain. “I think all of those are things we will be doing as well in Peoria."

This is the first time Peoria has won the All-America City award since 1989.
