Peoria woman arrested for stealing from Alzheimer's patients

PEORIA, Ill. --- Peoria Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman for allegedly stealing jewelry from patients at a local Alzheimer’s care facility.

Authorities were called to Grandview Alzheimer’s Special Care Center after jewelry was reportedly stolen from several patients in the facility.

Lacey Simmons, 25, of Peoria was arrested and confessed to some of the thefts. She also confessed to pawning some of the jewelry at local pawn shops.

Several pieces of jewelry have been recovered and returned to the victims but detectives are currently looking for additional pieces.

Simmons remains in the Peoria County Jail on one count of theft.
