PEORIA, Ill. -- Weekly snow days are leaving many parents in a constant shuffle to make child care arrangements.

On snow days like today the Boys and Girls Club opens on different hours to help parents who cannot take off work. Wednesday they opened up at 1pm. Children can grab a snack, play some sports and even get help with their home work.

"I had nothing to do when school was cancelled today so I came here to play basketball and get my homework done, " said Harrison School 8th grader Brian Johasan.

"We try to set a good example for these kids. We want to give them something positive to do and keep them from getting into trouble," said Child Development specialist Tyson Langhorn.

Child development specialists are available to help children with their work. The club hopes to offer guidance and direction to youth in the area.
