PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are investigating a home invasion that occurred early Monday morning.
Officers responded to the 700 block of Seneca Place and spoke to the 33-year-old victim.
The victim told police he was asleep with his girlfriend when he heard a loud noise in his kitchen at around 1:45 a.m.
The victim went downstairs to investigate and saw a figure behind the sheet he used to cover the entrance to the kitchen. The victim then heard two or three gunshots at close range and the suspect fled.
Police recovered one bullet from the scene. The victim's door was broken. The victim did not know who would want to break into his house and shoot him.
There were no injuries in the shooting. The suspect was described as wearing a red baseball cap. No additional information on the suspect has been made available.
Police are still investigating the incident.
