EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- East Peoria Police say 40-year-old Jason Moore of Creve Coeur walked into the Fifth Quarter Sports Bar & Pizzeria and shot his ex wife, 33-year-old Lori Moore of Morton and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Lance Griffel of Peoria.

Police say this case is unique in a sense they are not searching for suspects and they know almost exactly what happened but the million dollar question, "Why?"

East Peoria Police Chief Dick Ganschow says he is spending the next couple days re-living the relationship of the divorced couple. Investigators are in the process of searching through every text message, phone call any other means of communication between all parties to piece together why this happened.

Police say this is what happened that Saturday night. The last communication between Lori Moore and her ex-husband, Jason, was around 7:15 p.m.

Police say they had been text messaging about their children throughout the day. Jason was seen at a different East Peoria bar earlier in the night before he entered Fifth Quarter around 7:40 p.m. Minutes later he pulled out a weapon, killed his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

Police say Jason then put his gun to his own head, put it back down, and was then shot by an off-duty FBI agent and tackled to the ground by another person.

Police say they respond to situations regarding domestic violence almost every day.

"Domestic violence is such a problem on every level in law enforcement and in criminal justice, so I think it's good and I think on some respects it's our duty to try to get these answers and help people learn from it to help prevent them from getting to these situations," said Chief Ganschow.

He says multiple agencies assisted with the investigation including FBI members from Chicago, Detroit and Washington D.C.

Visitation for Lance Griffel is Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, Illinois. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 19th at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville.

Jason and Lori Moore have two children under the age of ten. A fund for the kids has been set up.
