WEST PEORIA, Ill. -- Local Irish pubs and restaurants prepared for their busiest day of the year.

At Jimmy's Bar in West Peoria, they prepared 250 pounds of corned beef for St. Patty's Day.

The pub also expanded their beer garden and brought in a beer truck and porta-potties.

The extra accommodations are all to encourage business on their busiest day of the year.

"For Irish bars, it's our super bowl, it's our new years eve," said Jimmy's owner Jim Spears.

"I like to compare it to a wedding," said manager Tara Nguyen. "It's like this huge event that you plan for then when it finally gets here it just explodes, and it's so great and we love it and we talk about it all year long."

Owner Jim Spears said St. Patrick's Day brings in three times as much business as their next busiest day.

Jimmy's Bar is opening its doors at 8 AM Monday morning.
