SPRINGFIELD, IL. -- The state of Illinois plans to spend over a million dollars to turn an old rail line in Peoria and Peoria heights to a pedestrian trail.

The new 10-foot wide pedestrian trail would run from Glen avenue to Springdale Cemetary.

At one time, the rail line ran through Peoria Heights.

The completed pedestrian path will connect to the completed Rock Island Trail to the North and run behind Springdale Cemetary down to War Memorial Drive to the south.

There it will connect to another section of the Rock Island Trail.
