Mortgage and rental assistance available to tornado victims

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- For tornado victims still struggling with housing, the Peoria Area Association of Realtors is stepping in to help.

On Tuesday, PAAR will host two meetings to help with mortgage or rental payments.

Residents who attend will be able to apply for grants of up to $1,500 to help cover the cost of housing.

Those wishing to apply must bring in a copy of their last mortgage statement or rental agreement.

Money will only be granted to those who do not have insurance, or are not fully covered by insurance.

If you would like to apply, the meetings will be Tuesday, December 17 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Avanti's Dome in Pekin and the Fondulac Bank-Clock Tower building in East Peoria.
