NORMAL,Ill. -- Peoria-area Congressman Aaron Schock said he thinks the worst of budget cuts brought on by sequestration are over.
Schock talked to a group of students at Normal Community High School on Tuesday.
He said Congress' decision last week to end furloughs in the Federal Aviation Administration gives agencies the power to make budgetary decisions.
"If we give people discretion in these agencies there's no reason they can't manage a three percent reduction in their growth. Three percent is not catastrophic so that it should not hurt any one agency more than the other," he said.
Schock said now that both the House and Senate have approved budgets, he hopes they can reach agreement on the debt limit.
