PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria company is celebrating Saint Patrick's Day with a special recognition from Caterpillar.

The company is appropriately named Shamrock Plastics. It has been a certified Caterpillar supplier for 28 years.

On Monday, Caterpillar officials, Mayor Jim Ardis and former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood were on hand for a celebration breakfast.

Caterpillar is recognizing Shamrock Plastics for operating at the "Platinum Level", the highest quality achievable for Caterpillar suppliers.

"We've always had a good relationship with Caterpillar," said Dan Beaird, production manager at Shamrock Plastics. "This just builds more trust with them and it helps us with new business and our new sales when they see we are certified at the "platinum level" with Caterpillar. That usually turns some heads and it's a pretty respectful thing. We're pretty proud of it."

Shamrock Plastics has been in business for a total of 46 years.
