SPRING BAY, Ill. -- A local club shot of its season to a start.
The Peoria Skeet and Trap Club held its annual open house.
The event serves as a kickoff for the club, before league play and fundraiser events begin.
Participants were able to learn about gun safety and fire off a few rounds at the clay targets.
"It's really fun to watch the attitudes of people coming in," said club director Dennis Kerns. "We've had some corporate groups for instance last year and the vast majority of people had never even touched a shotgun. They just had a blast. They discovered a sport that is kind of seen on the fringe if you will."
The Peoria Skeet and Trap Club is hosting Shoot For the Cure charity shoot on May 3rd.
