PEORIA, Ill. -- St. Jude has more than 30 satellite runs, beginning in four different states , all coming together this Saturday for the 36th Annual ST, Jude Telethon.
On Thursday, a group of dedicated fund-raisers and runners left Peoria for the Saint Louis run.
The group of about 65 runners will begin the 185-mile journey Friday morning at 7 a.m.
Over the past 11 years, the St. Louis satellite run has brought in more than $700,000 for the children of St. Jude.
Each participant runs for a different reason, but for Laurie Robley it's for her daughter, a bone cancer survivor and St. Jude Patient.
"We so much appreciate everything St. Jude does for us," said Robley. "We don't have to pay for our gas, we don't have to pay for our lodging, nor do we have to pay for our checkups. Now she's in what is called the After Care Center and she's doing fantastic. We've never received better healthcare than we have at St. Jude."
Robley and all the runners will arrive at the Peoria Civic Center to kick off the 36th Annual St. Jude Telethon on WEEK. You can catch the telethon from 6:30 p.m. to midnight and call in to donate to the children of St. Jude.
