PEORIA, Ill. -- A Republican State Representative running for Illinois Treasurer says, the way things are now, he'd be hesitant to relocate a business to Illinois.

Tom Cross stopped by the WEEK studios Wednesday afternoon.

He says the Quinn Administration has done nothing to make the state inviting for business.

"Unemployment is the sixth highest in the country, the worst bond rating in the country, the worst pension system in the country,” said Cross. “We haven't had a balanced budget in ten years. When are these folks in Springfield going to get things fixed? I hear that on a pretty regular basis."

Cross also says he favors consolidating the Treasurer’s Office with the comptroller's.

Cross is running against Democrat State Senator Mike Frerichs.
