PEORIA, Ill. -- Police continue to investigate an armed robbery that happened late last night in Peoria. The victim was a 15 year-old boy. Police say it appears the suspects may be targeting children in that area.

It happened on the 100 block of Northeast Roanoke Avenue in Peoria shortly before midnight. The victim reported he was walking in a nearby alley, when three men approached him, one armed with a handgun, another with a shotgun.

The victim said the suspects hit him as they went through his pockets...taking his phone, an MP3 player and a video game, before fleeing the scene.

No description of the suspects are available at this time.

But police said the incident is similar to one that happened Thursday night around 9 o'clock, just blocks away near the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flora Avenue.

That's where they said two suspects knocked a 13-year-old boy to the ground and punched and kicked him before stealing money and fleeing.

The victim suffered cuts and scrapes and was treated at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

The victim described the suspects as black males who were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans.
