PEORIA, Ill. -- Classes were cancelled at both Quest Academy locations on Monday after water was cut because of the main break.
Service was also disrupted at seven District 150 schools, but those classes did continue.
Water has since been restored.
Students at Woodruff Technical School initially could not flush toilets or take drinks from water fountains. The principal said the district immediately provided bottled water.
"They had been using the bathroom even when the toilets were down. We let them use the bathroom. So it was a little smelly for a bit but we got through it okay. The kids were great,” said Principal Thomas Blumer.
Business in Downtown Peoria was also cut short. Workers at three of Caterpillar's downtown offices were sent home early because of the water disruption.
The offices will reopen Tuesday, however the Caterpillar Visitor Center will remain closed until further notice.
