The Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Inc. (PCCEO) will be offering summer cooling assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
This assistance will be available to households with seniors age 60 or older, children under the age of 2 years, households with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Administration (SSA) income (disability income), or to households with a resident requiring cooling for documented medical purposes.
PCCEO Energy Services Department will be making appointments on a first come, first served basis, Monday, July 19, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Carver Community Center, 710 W. Third Street.
In addition to meeting income guidelines, eligible applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Age 60 or older
· Have a medical condition which requires cooling, with a medical statement signed by their physician
· Disabled resident in the home (SSI or SSA)
· Have a child age 2 years or younger in the home
Walk-in appointments can be made at Carver Center, beginning at 8:00am on Monday, July 19, or by calling 671-3900 after 8:30am.
Phone lines may ring busy, but customers are encouraged to keep calling until they get through.
Appointments will go quickly.
