PEKIN, Ill.-- Meth-related arrests are piling up in Tazewell County.

Pekin Police arrested four people just last week all played a part in the process of making or selling the drug.

Charles Smith and Megan Watkins were charged with possessing and supplying Pseudo-ephedrine a key ingredient in meth.

Timmy Jones was charged with possession of meth precursors and Michael Fernandez was charged with operating a meth conspiracy.

Nine people in total were charged in January on meth related crimes.

The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation involving Pekin Police and the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department called Operation Copperhead.

Officers said there will be more arrests in the near future.

“We have officers dedicated to just investigating meth crimes. That's their soul purpose is to go out and seek those who are making meth or those that are part of the process. The task force is working very diligently so you will see more arrests coming,” said Detective Mike Eeten from the Pekin Police Department.

Over the past two years, Operation Copperhead has resulted in more than 100 state and federal prosecutions.
