PEORIA, Ill. -- Some of the area's German society members gathered today to cheer on their team in the World Cup.

As the big game got underway soccer fans gathered at the Lindenhof building in Peoria to share a few drinks and to celebrate their German heritage.

The whole crowd was cheering for the German team as it took on Brazil.

"We got a great game here and a great crowd here and of course we get our culture here. We're rooting for Germany," said German fan Bobby Franken.

The German team swept a victory over Brazil with a final score of 7-1.
