NORMAL, Ill. -- After rescheduling last week due to weather, the third finalist for Unit 5 superintendent position spoke to board and community members this evening.

Michael Popp is currently the executive director at Indian Prairie School district in Aurora.

Popp has education experience as a director for leadership services and school improvement.

He's also been a principal and assistant principal.

While this would be Popp's first superintendent job,he says that would not stop him from helping students succeed.

"The number one thing we can do for students is to make sure they feel connected to at least one staff member. If every child were connected to one staff member, we know we've got to hook them," said Unit 5 superintendent finalist Michael Popp. "We know they want to do well for that person."

The board hopes to have a finalist picked no later than March.

The new superintendent would begin July 1st.
