PEORIA, Ill -- Two Trewyn Middle School students are arrested after attempting to knock out a man last week.

Wednesday, police arrested two kids, ages 12 and 13. Since they are juveniles, their names are not being released.

Last Thursday, the young people allegedly approached a man walking on Folkers Avenue, punched him and then ran off.

Captain Mike Eddlemon with the Peoria Police said the kids claim they weren't playing a dangerous new fad game called 'knock-out', but they admit their intent was to knock out the man.

"This is not going to be tolerated and I know this is kind of the rave across the nation. It's been highly reported and if this is some sort of copy-cat or if people think this is a good idea, it will be dealt with swiftly and severely," said Capt. Eddlemon.

Capt. Eddlemon said the students had already been suspended from school.

The State's attorney's office is weighing what charges to file against the young suspects.
