BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, Ill. – Dry windy conditions have caused the Bloomington and Normal Fire Departments to issue a temporary ban on outdoor recreational fires.

The ban is in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The ban includes fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, unpermitted use of fireworks, the improper disposal of any kind of un-extinguished smoking materials and any other kind of open burning.

Violators may face fines and may be liable for any damages caused by illegal burning.

The ban does not include gas grills, charcoal grills or smoker grills but residents are encouraged to use caution.
