The Memphis to Peoria runners are now back in Illinois, with less than 300 miles to go.
While crossing through Kentucky Thursday morning, WEEK 25's Lee Hall sat down with two runners who are celebrating a milestone of their own.
Just south of Arlington, Lee sat down with two St. Jude to Memphis runners celebrating a special anniversary this year.
Mary Snodgrass and Julie Comfort are celebrating 25 years on the St. Jude run.
"We've done it together the entire time, and that's one of the greatest things. I spend a week with her every year, and she's my best friend. And it's been just awesome," said 25 year runner, Mary Snodgrass.
"To do this for the kids is wonderful in of itself, but to do it with such a wonderful friend, who shares the same values and goals and love of family and friends and faith is wonderful," said 25 year runner, Julie Comfort.
Mary and Julie both started 27 years ago, both took two years off to have babies, giving them a perspective that's keep them coming back to the Memphis to Peoria run.
"I came here one year, and I saw a little boy that was 2 years old, who had blonde hair just like my two year old at home. I came back the next year and my son had a birthday and that family had a funeral. That really hit me. It really did," said Snodgrass.
Mary and Julie have said they would retire at 25 years although on this day, they were non-committal.
"We've learn that we would stop saying that and we would just say ok this is our 10th, this year is our 15th. So this year is our 25th year is what we're saying," said Snodgrass.
"Mary said it best, this is our 25th year. It's a quarter of a century for gosh shakes. But still loving it," said Comfort.
Lee will have more reports all this week of the St. Jude run.
You can catch all the coverage live from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday August 3 on WEEK.
