PEORIA, Ill. -- Two members of the Bomb Squad street gang have been charged with murder in connection with Peoria's latest homicide.
Mytrez Flora, 19, and Lloyd Dotson, 22, were charged Tuesday in the death of Tyrann M. Chester, 24, of Chicago.
Peoria County deputies arrested the two men and Eugene Heywood, 19, in the 2500 block of West Humboldt around the same time Chester was found shot to death nearby.
Officers found him in the backseat of a rented, silver SUV parked in an alley in the 3000 block of West Seibold. He had been shot in the head. Police believe Chester was shot at a nearby location and his body was driven to the alley before the vehicle was abandoned.
Officers recovered two guns and Flora had a .22 caliber pistol in his waistband when he was arrested.
He was previously arrested in 2011 for a shooting that occurred near city hall. He was paroled in May of this year.
"Part of 'Don't Shoot' is the philosophy that our goal isn't about locking people up forever. It's getting them to put the guns down, and the fact that he's out, the fact that he would choose to pick up a gun again means that we will hold him accountable," said Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard.
The homicide of Tyrann M. Chester is under investigation.
Flora and Dotson remain in the Peoria County Jail on $2 million bond.
