CHICAGO, Ill. -- Numbers released Thursday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security shows increases in both the unemployment rates for both Bloomington-Normal and Peoria.
Peoria's unemployment rate was recorded at 10.4 percent in February, up from January's number of 10 percent.
Bloomington-Normal's unemployment went up to 8.1 percent, which is up from January's rate of 7.7 percent.
Peoria had 180,500 non-farm jobs in February. Bloomington-Normal had 90,000 non-farm jobs.
Statewide, unemployment rates increased in 10 of 12 metros and decreased in two.
