Unit 5 narrows superintendent search to three candidates

NORMAL, Ill. – The Unit 5 School Board has narrowed their search for a new superintendent down to three candidates.

On Monday, School Board President John Puzauskas announced the three candidates, Dr. Mark Daniel, Dr. Todd J. Koehl and Dr. Michael Popp will each visit the community next week for a second interview.

Dr. Mark Daniel is currently the superintendent of Dowagiac Union Schools in Dowagiac, Michigan. He has a Ph.D. in Education Administration from Indiana State University.

Dr. Todd Koehl is currently the superintendent of O’Fallon District 90 in O’Fallon, Illinois. He previously served as assistant principal for Bloomington District 87 and was also an English teacher at Normal Community High School. Dr. Koehl has a Ph.D. in Education Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University.

Dr. Michael Popp is currently the Executive Director of K-12 Teaching and Learning at Indian Prairie School District 204 in Aurora, Illinois. Dr. Popp has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.

Each candidate will participate in a second interview with the Board of Education and a panel interview with Unit 5 employees and community members.
