PONTIAC, Ill. – Pontiac Police are releasing more information about the deaths of a mother and son at the Palamar Motel in Pontiac.

Police Chief Jim Woolford said officers responded to the motel for a well-being check after Jean Corrice, 57, did not show up for work.

When officers entered room 239 of the motel, they found Corrice and her son Tyler Friant, 23, dead. Woolford said both died of a "fatal gun shot wound".

Police are not identifying a third person in the room who was also shot. That person is being treated at a Springfield hospital.

Woolford said officers found the gun they believe was used in the shooting inside the motel room.

He stressed once again that while police are handling the investigation as a homicide, they believe it was an isolated event and that the public is not in jeopardy.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
