PEORIA, Ill.--Dozens of Peoria County employees and volunteers spent the day doing house repairs- for a stranger.
Thanks to the help of 30 volunteers, Alice Wamsley's Crost Road home received a new paint job, some yard work, and a good cleaning inside and out.
Volunteers also did some electrical work and installed a new garage door.
The project is part of the not-for-profit 'Rebuilding Together-Peoria.'
Peoria County partnered with the organization to sponsor Wamsley's home.
Organizers say the project helps low-income homeowners live in warmth, safety, and independence.
Peoria County Planning and Zoning Assistant Director, Kathi Lowder said, “We always have grateful people it's good. The volunteers love doing it and you really like to see that you've helped someone and they're always very grateful."
This is the organization's 20th annual Rebuilding Day, and the 3rd year Peoria County has participated in the project.
