PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria native surprised a family from Washington, devastated by the tornado, with an early Christmas celebration.

Tammy Ammerman got a phone call from her children's school in Washington telling her to bring her kids to the Brewers Distributing Company in Peoria, but she wasn't told why.

Once they got there, they were greeted by NBA Basketball star Shaun Livingston.

The family was completely surprised with Christmas presents, Nike shoes, gift cards, and Brooklyn Nets gear, from the Shaun Livingston Foundation.

"The outpouring of love from people we know, people we don't know and people who come up to me and give us things after we've had this experience. So it just means the world that so many people love and care for us and other people in this situation," said Tammy Ammerman, Washington Resident.

"We wanted to get involved within the community and this is a way to reach out to families within the community. It's great, I got a chance to spend time with them and enjoy the holidays," said Shaun Livingston, NBA Basketball player, Brooklyn Nets

Shaun Livingston said he plans to keep giving back to the Greater Peoria area through his foundation.
