Woman wins Peoria Race for the Cure for first time since race became co-ed

PEORIA, Ill. – The weather was beautiful for this year’s Peoria Komen Race for the Cure.

For the first time since the race became co-ed, a woman crossed the finish line first.

The overall winner was Nicole Benson, 23, of Peoria with a time of 17:49.

 Judson Swan - East Peoria

 Dan Bender - Metamora

 

The city of Springfield is having its first Race for the Cure this coming Friday, May 16. It starts at 6:30 p.m. from the state capitol.

You can register online at komenmemorial.org or in person on Friday staring at 3 p.m.

 

Bloomington's fourth Race for the Cure is Saturday, September 13.
