NORMAL, Ill. -- Joe's Station House Pizza and Pub in Normal is more than a college pub.

In this edition of You Gotta Eat, we take you to a restaurant that even participates in events and fund raisers positively impacting the community.

Joe's Station House Pizza and Pub is a place for those of any age who enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with a kick.

"We try to cater to the family atmosphere,” said co-owner Tony Wargo. “We want people to come in and enjoy a meal.”

“I had the Pig Wing Sandwich. I tend to order pulled pork barbecue when I'm in the mood for sports food. It's usually a safe order, because they tend to taste the same everywhere, but not here. This is the most unique and the best one I've had,” said reporter Joe Bennett.

"We get a good shoulder and then we mix it with our barbecue sauce, and the bread that we get, which we also use with our Italian Beef Sandwiches,” said Wargo.

That's another specialty here, and it's what photographer Larry Foulk is having. Strips of tender beef smothered in jalapenos, sweet banana peppers, served with a side of au juis.

“Larry and I washed down our sandwiches with a few slices of pizza,” said Joe. “The pizza does have a distinct Chicago-style taste, which earns high approval from me since that's my favorite style of pizza and just when Joe's Station House seemed like it couldn't be more impressive, I was told they do their part to give back to the community through fund raisers and even food donations to good causes.”

"We actually run our own golf outing in July, which last year we raised $13,000 for the Children's Hospital of Illinois,” said Wargo.

For a sampler platter, a pizza, two sandwiches and a drink we paid $46.38 plus tip.

Joe's Station House Pizza and Pub is located at 305 South Veteran's Parkway at the Shoppes at College Hills in Normal.
