If you head out of East Peoria on Main Street past Spring Bay Road, you will find Carrigan's Pub.

It is an Irish bar and grill with a comfortable down-home feel.

You might be forgiven for not knowing where Carrigan's Pub is located. It's in the 5500 block of North Main Street in East Peoria.

Once there, you'll find a place that a combination of Irish pub, country cafe and neighborhood bar, where everybody knows your name.

Annetta Carrigan runs the place just like she ran Peoria's old Bee-Gee Tap for years, after she took over from her mother.

On the resturant side of Carrigan's you'll find folks of all ages
digging into the food.

Photographer Doug Smith went for the four piece chicken dinner-which included a trip to the salad bar.

I wanted to try the grilled chicken sandwich, which came with tomato, lettuce and hand-cut french fries. This is a nice big sandwich, tasty and the fries set it off nicely.

Doug's chicken dinner is four large pieces of fried chicken. Some people split this with a friend, Doug ate it all.

I topped my meal off with a chocolate brownie with ice cream and if Doug thought I was going to share, he was very wrong.

Our bill came to $23.99 cents, plus tip.

Carrigan's Pub is located at 5506 N. Main Street in East Peoria.

It's open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday and opens at 8 a.m. on the weekends.
