PEORIA, Ill. -- At the corner of State and Water, you'll find "The Creek."
It's a five-month old eatery with a chic décor and ready to do its part to revitalize downtown Peoria.
"Its really laid back," said customer Corrinna Markland. "It's very bright with the windows and it still has the dark undertones with the lanterns and stuff."
"It's more hip, kind of for the young people I guess you could say," said Brandon Sassaman, customer.
But there's something for all ages.
The lunch menu is full custom salads and sandwiches, including a lobster roll.
And there's a rotating lunch buffet throughout the week. On this particular day, it's Wrap Wednesday.
For dinner, customers can enjoy tapas-style dining, or smaller portions for a lower price you can share with friends.
"Our most popular dishes for dinner our the stuffed prawns, ahi tuna," said Nam Do, the director of operations. "And for people who don't like seafood as much, will have our beef puff pastry."
Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins joined me for this feast.
We both hit up the salad bar, with fresh toppings such as mushrooms, shrimp and black bean corn salsa.
Chuck wasn't chicken about ordering up his favorite sandwich, the turkey club.
The classic is double-stacked with bacon, pesto mayo, ham, cheese, tomato and lettuce. No problem gobbling that up that flavor.
I took advantage of the Wrap Wednesday lunch buffet.
With five meats to choose from, I stuffed it with brisket, lettuce, tomato, salsa and cheese.
It was the combo just right for my appetite.
Our total came to $17.10 plus tip.
