The newly–signed economic stimulus package could be a boon for Peoria's battery technology company.
There's two billion dollars designated for advanced battery technology.
And Firefly Energy executives say that kind of investment could help put its products in the hybrid and electric vehicles of the future.

Firefly believes its carbon foam batteries will qualify for government support through the stimulus package, although the plan only talks about lithium ion batteries – like the ones used in the new Chevy Volt.
But Firefly's battery technology already has interested three automakers.
And the company is seeking money from another government incentive program for engineering and to build a manufacturing plant.
