Siemens to cut 853 jobs in Austria

German industrial giant Siemens is planning to cut 853 jobs at its Austrian subsidiary by the end of September, the unit's works committee said on Monday.

"According to our information, Siemens management plans... to cut considerably its software development sector in Austria," committee head Ataollah Samadani said in a statement.

Samadani said the first talks on the planned cuts between management and personnel representatives were planned for later on Monday.
