Unemployment Up In Peoria

New figures released Wednesday show the Peoria area unemployment rate hit 11.7% for the month of October.

That's double the rate of a year ago.

That number is also above the jobless figure for the state as a whole; 10.5%, and the national figure of 9.5%.

Rockford remains the leader for joblessness in Illinois, with a rate of 15.7%.

The Bloomington-Normal area has the lowest unemployment rate, 7.7%.
