May proved a strong month for global sales at Caterpillar, improving 52-percent over last year.
The world's largest maker of construction and mining equipment provided an update on its sales Monday in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Cat sales in May were strongest in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The company's Asian region posted the weakest results, but sales there were still up 38-percent.
The markets responded positively, with Big Yellow stock sales up more than 2-percent.
Caterpillar's sales figures are watched closely, as they are considered an indicator of the health of the economy.
