Caterpillar is reporting its first drop in global machine sales in more than two and a half years.
According to published figures confirmed by a CAT Spokesman, sales of construction and mining equipment fell one percent over the last three months. That's compared to the same period one year ago. That decline reportedly comes after a slowdown in Asian demand.
The last time Big Yellow reported a decline in monthly numbers was for the three-month period through April 2010.
Retail numbers for global power-system sales also fell two percent. Caterpillar is set to release its fourth-quarter earnings on Monday.
