Announced last week, Caterpillar says it has secured a business deal with Brazil, resulting in the purchase of 56 generator sets for use on offshore vessels.
The diesel generator sets, including several Cat diesel models and MaK DEP solutions, will be used in the construction of four oil spill recovery vessels and 12 platform supply vessels.
Caterpillar Marine Power Systems Brazil Manager Carlos Lima said the generator solutions are perfectly suited for the Brazilian offshore market.
Eric Hermann, Caterpillar Marine Power Systems sales manager, says the diesel electric propulsion engines are not only effective but the most efficient solution in the marketplace.
"The Cat 3500 engine series and MaK main engines are recognized as the leading choices for the commercial marine industry because of their proven productivity, durability, and reliability," said Hermann.
